Our grapes are grown in the ancient vineyards of Magna Graecia kissed by the sun, in the 2,500 hectares of production lands of Cirò DOC.
The Greek colonists landed here in the VIII century BC, planting new vineyards and adopting innovative winemaking techniques. The Greeks, fascinated by the fertility of the place, called this land Enotria or "land where the vine is grown". The product was so satisfactory that it was elected in 765 B.C. as the official wine of the Athens Olympics.
The production of the S.Francesco farm began in the eighteenth century, when the Sicilian family took over the ancient convent of Domenico di Paola. About 5 years ago, in 2013, the Iuzzolini family, which has been cultivating vines in these lands for generations, took over the company by introducing modern winemaking techniques, renewing the range of wines and thus bringing the new Fattoria San Francesco to the high-end of the market, in the niche of excellence products found in the most exclusive wine shops, in prestigious restaurants and in the most refined wine bars.
Undoubtedly Ronco dei Quattroventi IGT Calabria that continues to amaze the juries of the most listed wine competitions in the world. Twelve times winner of the "Cinque Grappoli di Bibenda" award, it was awarded this year by the Veronelli guide with the "Super Tre Stelle 2018" by Luigi Veronelli, the highest award given to the masterpieces of Italian viticulture.
